Welcome to Stark County Regional Planning Commission (SCRPC)

Our Mission

The mission of the Stark County Regional Planning Commission (SCRPC) is to improve the quality of life in Stark County and its communities through an effective regional forum characterized by communication, collaboration, facilitation and planning assistance.

Public Involvement

Public participation is a critical element of the planning processes. The public involvement process provides that citizens have access to information, plans, and programs for review and comment.

Key elements in the Regional Planning Commission’s public involvement process are:

  • Public meetings, open forums, workshops, or open houses at key points in the process.
  • The Citizens’ Advisory Council (CAC) - a committee established to provide formal citizen participation in this planning process.  Its membership is open to all persons living or working in Stark County as well as those affected by decisions and policies of the Regional Planning Commission.  Regularly scheduled meetings are held bimonthly at Goodwill Industries in Canton.
  • Planning Progress – a quarterly newsletter on agency activities mailed to local officials and interested citizens.
  • Adequate public notice of public involvement activities and time for public review and comment at key decision points through this website, press releases, public service announcements and paid advertising.
